Somewhere Only We Know

Category: Entertainment

Do you have a minute? If you do, why don’t we go talk about it? Talk about it somewhere only we know. This need not be the end of everything.

A little old, a little tired. At this point in time, I’m about needing somewhere to begin. So, can we go?

This is me feeling a little nostalgic:  A song from almost a decade ago came bursting through my head a few days ago and suddenly I felt like I was taken back in time; yearning for simplicity and familiarity.

Shall we?

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river, and it made me complete

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old, and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I’ve been dreaming of?

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old, and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute, why don’t we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go
Somewhere only we know?

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I’m getting old, and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute, why don’t we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go?
So why don’t we go?

This could be the end of everything
So why don’t we go
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know?

  1. That’s one of my favorite songs!

  2. Cool song! 😀

  3. Each time you leave something behind, you leave a piece of yourself behind too and you spend a lifetime trying to find it and connect with it. When you do, you realize it’s foreign and unnecessary and you move on…until the next time something triggers a distant memory. (it all makes sense in my head, lol)

    • It makes perfect sense, Jas! Plus it’s a very apt description of “somewhere only we know”…especially since no one really knows what goes inside your head. I can’t even figure out my own head sometimes! Hahahah! x.
