Giant Tortoise Spotted!
While walking Spud to school a few days ago, we came across a sight which we don’t normally see in our usual routine. We spotted a giant tortoise walking about within the gate of a residential-cum-office compound.
Intrigued, both Spud and me walked towards the gate to have a closer look. This reptile is huge! He was pacing up and down the car park relentlessly, scanning the premise. I thought he did not seem too interested with humans like us. As we peered into the small holes, the policeman who was directing the traffic told me that the tortoise is new and has just arrived from America.
Spud, for some reason, did not like what she saw. She confidently announces that she does not like the big tortoise and quickly pulled me away because she did not want to look at it anymore. She then said that she would prefer a tiny, small tortoise instead because she wants to hold it in her hand. An image of her holding a terrapin in her hand suddenly conjured up in my mind and that made me smile.
I decided to take a picture of the giant tortoise right after I dropped her in school. The tortoise looks exotic. I wonder what that tortoise is doing there and why would anyone want to keep a giant tortoise as a pet? Or is it for something else?
Whatever the reason is, I guess I’l never know. But for sure, this isn’t normal and it is a sight one don’t get to see everyday.
