Blog Pitch Party 2: Pitch Your Blog And Attract New Followers

It’s not very normal for me to publish a few posts in a day, but I thought that I’d interrupt my recent Budapest adventure and share a blog pitch party event from a re-blog from Tiny Expats. I thought it’s pretty cool and I already discovered several cool blogs out there, which I would otherwise not know of. Can’t wait to share some of the new links I like. Spread the love!

Since Spring Training has started, I’ve certainly got pitching on my mind, Modern Philosophers.

However, not all pitching is limited to the type that takes place on a baseball field.

I’ve been thinking about the wildly successful Blog Pitch Party I threw back in July, and I thought it was time to host another.

As you know, I’m also a screenwriter.  When I was lived in California, I’d get invited by producers to a pitch meeting.  Basically, they’d ask about my scripts, and then based on a few sentences from me, they’d decide if they were interested in reading any of them.

keep wrtingI thought that same progress would work perfectly with blogs.  Why not bring a little Hollywood to the blogging world, Modern Philosophers?

In the comment section, pitch your blog.  Give us the name, a link, and up to three sentences describing your blog.

If you choose to participate, I ask that you visit at least two of the other blogs that get pitched.  You don’t have to follow them, but just give them a shot.

Remember, you’ve only got three sentences, so choose your words wisely.  The trick is to hook them immediately, and make them want to go directly to your blog.
When you visit a blog, let them know that you’re part of the Blog Pitch Party, and tell them what you think of their blog.  Hopefully, they will then return the favor and check out your blog.

This is all about meeting other bloggers and discovering great new blogs, while also spreading the word about your own.  Be nice, have fun, and share the Blog Love!

Exploring Budapest in under 10 hours

Category: Travels

The weather in Budapest was pretty chilly with nothing more than 5 degrees Celsius in the day, yet I have found it to be a very nice change from the bloody humid 35 degrees Celsius weather back in Bangkok. On the day we were due to leave, the temperature dipped to only 2 degrees Celsius.  And, I actually didn’t mind it at all.

I’ve heard a lot about Budapest before – mostly good stuff; notwithstanding their fabulous goulash of course.  And, if not for this work-related conference, I would think that Budapest will be in the back-burner just because that it’s a place that is not really at the top of my mind for places to visit. Frankly, I don’t think Hungary has ever made it to my list of the top 10 places to visit.

So I’m glad this happened. The scenery amazing, the vibes pretty chilled. Things are surprisingly quite affordable there too and really nothing too expensive. I did fret at the thought that we could only squeeze in a few hours a day to do some sight-seeing when we arrived and before we were bound back for Bangkok.

This was yet another view from my hotel this morning and it still took my breath away.

The Chain Bridge

I am currently trying to post this up with a rather slow wifi connection while in a 3-hour transit in Dubai Airport before the next leg back to Bangkok. And I’ve been pretty annoyed since we got off the plane because it has taken us more than half an hour of walking, gate-to-gate, as we tried to navigate this huge-ass, confusing airport and going from train to train transfers just to get to the next gate. That was 45 minutes of blogging time wasted. I’ll be sure to avoid another transit in Dubai the next time I travel!

So, by the time you read this post, it is highly probable that I’ll still be up in the clouds and I haven’t quite get round to responding to any comments you may have left me…for at least a few days.

For now, I’ll leave you with some pictures from Budapest in the last few days with a  total of about less than 10 hours of down-time away from any work obligation and I have to say that Budapest has stolen bits and pieces of my heart.

There’ll be more to come in the next few days when I get my act together!

On the Road: Budapest, Hungary

Category: Travels

Of all the things I intended to do while in the plane bound for Budapest, Hungary, I only managed to do one thing: I slept!

I mostly slept on my 6.5 hours flight from Bangkok to Dubai and after a 3.5 hour of transit time in the very crowded Dubai Airport, I literally snoozed away again the moment I parked my ass on my seat on the 6+ hour leg to Budapest. I was so exhausted that I wasn’t even acutely aware that the plane was grounded on the tarmac for quite a while and was delayed for more than an hour as they apparently had to fix the in-flight entertainment system before taking off.

Flight time under 7 hours with 2 square meals served in between had meant that my sleep on the plane was mainly broken sleep, making the overall journey even more taxing. Especially so when we landed slightly past mid-day and had to force ourselves to go through the rest of the afternoon without any naps so as to sync-up our body clock with the new time zone.

In a way, that had worked well as we managed to see just a little bit of Budapest within the hotel’s vicinity prior to the start of the conference the next day.

But I could barely function. My eyes were heavy and I felt sluggish. Forcing ourselves to walk around in temperatures below 6 degrees Celsius in wide open spaces made it that much harder to push through the rest of the day. By the time we had dinner, I was completely knackered…my entire face almost nodded off into my goulash.

My brains had ceased to cooperate and I could no longer reel myself to reach out for my laptop while I laid motionless on the other side of the really soft, comfy bed when I returned to my hotel room.  All hopes and good intention to either read or blog went down the drain.

It was lights-out before 8.30 pm.

I woke up to a scenery of serendipity from my window as the dawn started to break before 5.30 a.m with the first light of the day.

This was to be the view for a good 4 days from my room the moment I get out of bed.

The last few days had been pretty intense. But, life’s good and I can’t complain!
