This is a re-blog and one blogger’s interpretation on connecting and communication, correlating the intricate world of internet and social media to that of a mother nature’s world-wide web.
A really clever, creative take on the interpretation and I so love how the handsome Mr Spidey hung lose on its web. I wish I could come up with shit like this! Not that it’s shit because I absolutely love this and therefore, I share!
To Connect ~ to join, to bridge, hook on, to tag on … To me, social media, in its own way, has been using terms to correlate with beings of Mother Nature to help us, people, Connect and understand its structural network. This is an Arachnid’s personal website.
He built this web and Connected all its frameworks singlehandedly. He knows web templates instinctively and will adjust his web Connections depending on available hardware at the time of set-up. This is where he Connects with his feed and gets his daily input dynamically (‘on-the-fly’ as nerds term it).
He and I Connect and communicate in our own quiet way, the way Mother Nature intended. I love these web builders who help me to clean up bugs and worms on my garden platform.
Corporate conferences held halfway round the world are always great. Not only do you get to travel to meet your counterparts from all over the world and if you are lucky, travel in business class to get there.
Spot the Delegates!
In compensation to being cooped up for 8 hours straight, listening to 30 people over 3 days and having to digest a gazillion numbers of powerpoint slides, you not only get to do lots of we-fies and pictures to prove that you are there, you also get fed.All.the.time.
And believe you me, we did get fed really, really well; throughout the day, almost hour on the hour. During the mandatory breaks, we get to feast on unlimited supply of sweets, sugared and caffeinated beverage the entire time such that we hyper-ventilate from all the sugar goodness.
If that is not enough, you are then held accountable to join in some fancy dinner with more super awesome fine-dining and crazy company to wrap up the day. To which, dinner will always get extended into the wee hours of the morning for more networking opportunities. For some, it would just be in time to saunter into the next day’s session and only to be repeated again for several days.
A foodie like me would never complain if there’s a constant supply of food, but I do have a problem with the impending consequence of being in such conferences because they make me fat. I would always eat too much, more than I usually world because…my eyes are usually bigger than my stomach.
I would, mostly continue stuffing my face at every break even though I have had a good, hearty breakfast. It’s only because the spread of food and snacks usually are just too good to say no to.
I can’t help it – I am weak. I just want to have a little taste of everything that I see.
So. No Fabulous Friday Flavour Feature last week (and possibly this week too as I’ll be travelling again), because for 4 straight days, I have been really busy stuffing my face, full-on, with really good stuff!
I call it as my way of getting some food inspiration.
Not only do I get to feast at the hotel throughout the day, and for dinner, we were taken to some super cool restaurants in Budapest that served only phenomenal food. My only gripe is that when I said I don’t eat pork, they gave me a vegetarian meal. No meat meals make me grumpy! Surprisingly though, the beetroot risotto did not taste half as bad as I thought it would be.
I did not manage to snap every single food served because after the first or second course, I got busy stuffing my face and forgot about wanting to take any pictures. By the time I remembered, my plate was empty!
These pictures below will give you some sense of Hungarian goodness I have been exposed to in my 4 days in Budapest. My waistline has definitely expanded by a couple of inches since then. I bet they will make you drool!

I have purposely left out the famous Hungarian Goulash from this post, simply because that would require a dedicated post in itself.
When time (or rather, the lack of) is a factor, going on an hour cruise to explore Budapest by night is a good way to admire the various illuminated riverfront attractions with an evening cruise.
The cruise typically highlights a little bit of Hungarian history – from legendary stories about the town to famous personalities from the Hungarian history, kings queens, poets and inventors. The cruise combines a sound and vision show with 30 languages offered from their audio set.
The boat departs from the centre of Budapest. All you really have do is sit on the boat, get served a drink of your choice, listen to the audio provided and feast your eyes on monuments that are found along the river for a full hour.
The TV screen available on board will provide you a glimpse of what goes on behind the walls of the building. – which was pretty cool to watch, although I did find it a little distracting as I had wanted to focus on the sights out there.
I wasn’t really listening attentively to the audio, so I don’t quite remember the names of the individual buildings along the river, But what I did well was to attentively admire the sights I was presented with, as I attempted to take a snapshot of what I could in the low light using my mobile camera while we cruise along on a moving boat.
I do apologise for some of the poor quality of these images. I wish I could have taken better pictures, and for what it was worth, I hope I have been able to capture the essence of Budapest by night along the river and showing you a little of my world.
It was just too easy to get lost and mesmerised with historical sights such as these:
This really was one of atypical touristy thing to do…not everyone’s idea of fun and going off the beaten track – certainly not mine. But! When you are crunched for time, you bite the bullet and do the typical touristy thing – just so you can say that you HAVE seen a little bit of Budapest in the limited time you have been there.
Been there, done that. Evening sight-seeing checked. It was well worth the time and I thought that, on the hindsight, this post would be befitting as a response to Tiny Expat’s Show Your World Blog Event with the following main guidelines:
tell us about an interesting place – it can be somewhere in your home country or a destination that you visited
instead of just giving us facts about this location, use your words to show it to us as well – the way it looks, sounds, smells, conveying its atmosphere
