With the Dutch, there really is no beating about the bush.
Now I’m actually seeing why just a simple “how are you” would usually turn into a 10-minute conversation, and inevitably points towards the weather! That explains it all.

Please do, Sarah! It’s been verified (even agreed whole-heartedly) by my MIL, FIL and my husband. It seems legit and I guess natives can’t be wrong. LOL.
Love the ‘how are you?’ interpretational differences. Could be a good way to make friends though….. Someone really cares about how I feel!
Right? Apparently, they do! But I do wonder at what point would they just tell you, “well, that’s enough. Do you need to see a psychiatrist?” :p
