A typical New Year’s Eve for me would not be complete without a spread of good food and the company of good friends before we head out to town.
I cannot help myself but get busy in the kitchen to prepare a sumptuous feast (and to quote-unquote from Silver Bullet) — enough “to feed the entire apartment for the week!”
The presentation of the food is really not flattering and left much to be desired, but I know that I made a few people happy with the humble home-cooked meal consisting of Roast Turkey & Gravy, Spiced Vegetables, Nasi Minyak, Beef Rendang as well as the all-time favourite Ayam Masak Merah. They were scrumptious and nothing makes me happier than seeing people enjoying the food that I prepared and going for a few rounds of seconds! 😀

I spent the entire evening in the kitchen yesterday prepping up for a humble New Year’s Eve dinner celebration at home, and on top of prepping up a Roast Turkey, I decided to give my Mom’s rendang a go.
After a few hours of prepping, I got these stewing nicely on the stove of my kitchen. Suddenly it occured to me that the entire apartment smells just like our CCK home during the festive season! Sweet!
a. Festive Rice – Fragrant Nasi Minyak in the rice cooker
b. The must have Red Chicken Dish (Ayam Masak Merah) smokin’ away
c. The long awaited beef rendang simmering on low heat for hours and hours!
Verdict: So far, so good. No major mishap and word has it that both the Rendang and Red Chicken are tasting pretty close to Mom’s! I’m not convinced just yet, but it’s a promising comment.
For me, I just love getting busy in the kitchen!

And they were having some alone time and probably in deep conversation, as they stared intensely into each other’s eyes…
