Last Friday marked the end of the school term and for Spud, that had meant that her stint as a K1 student has officially ended. She came home this time without the usual bagfuls of stuff and materials she has done in school for the last semester like she always does. Not that I minded as when her homeroom teacher informed me that they would keep her work for the purpose of the school’s inspection and so the return would be delayed,  I thought it would be kind of a blessing as our home  is already filled up with junk as it is.

I thought nothing of  the whole thing and I really would not have minded if they would want keep it for longer.

While Spud did not come home with her usual bagful of stuff, she did come home with 2 sets of sealed envelope – one with her report card, and the other with a certificate:

 

 

Ahhh! Turned out that our rambunctious little imp has done pretty well for herself to earn such commendation.  I was surprised to say the least, thinking for a fleeting second that her teacher might have been really mistaken and gave the award to the wrong child!  When I looked through her report card, she scored “outstanding” on most of the criteria she was assessed with. I had to smirk when “outstanding” was also marked on her “being able to behave and listen well”.

Whoahhh. Is this really the Spud who has been that willful and strong spirited little imp to her parents? Hard to believe…but I supposed since her name (in full!) has been printed on there, the teacher really had to be right! It made me smile to know that she’s cruising along pretty darn well,  and hopefully if she keeps this up, I have one less thing to worry about her academic achievements without having to push her too hard.

Well done, little Spud! Now, can you please replicate that behaviour when you are at home with your parents, please.

She’s now on a school break for the next four weeks and for the sakes of her Nanny’s sanity, she has been enrolled for Summer school to keep her occupied. When next term starts, she will move on to K2 and will no longer be doing half-days.

She’s a big girl now and ready for bigger things. She’s turning four soon too. And looking at this picture that was candidly taken just a couple weeks ago by a friend at another 2 year olds’ birthday party, I realised that she is fast blossoming into a proper little girl.

Melts my heart. Oh dear.
