Potayto. Potahto. Apart from the spelling in which both are wrong, how does it matter?
But this is not about a spelling lesson. This is a lesson in which I will prove that anything and everything can taste really good with potato. Like broccoli; which by the way can taste really good too with other kind of food.
So here’s something starchy, something simple, something stir fry and still something healthy:
250g slices potatoes (I bought a ready fresh par-boiled from the supermarket)
Half a bouillon chicken stock
Half an onion, sliced thin
1 clove of garlic, pressed
Half tspn dried dill
A handful of chopped chives
Olive oil for frying
Instructions
Heat up a deep pan with 2 tbsp olive oil
Saute garlic and onion for about a minute
Add in bouillon. Mix well
Fry the potatoes till they get a little brown
Then add in the broccoli, dill and chopped chives
Cover for about 1-2 minutes
Mix well and turn off the fire after about a minute
Ready to serve!
Notes
You can choose to fry the potatoes first before anything else to make it crispy. After which, set aside and put in the broccoli first and taters later.
What happened in Manchester yesterday was just horrifying. The attack, a cowardly one. I’m sad, I’m angry and I’m disgusted. It’s appalling and I don’t understand how such a young suicide bomber could bring himself to do the things he did.
The news of the attack hit me right through my gut. I mean..kids! Children! There were lots of children there…innocent, young lives who just wanted to go to a concert and experience a little bit of fun. Those who perished did not deserve death. Absolutely not!
As I read and watched the news, tears just ran down my face. It’s hard for parents…any parents to swallow this barbaric and selfish act. What has this world come to!
My heart goes out to the parents whom as of yesterday still have not heard from their kids nor have received any news of their kids’ whereabouts. My heart bleeds seeing the faces on the young kids who had been unfortunate enough to be at the wrong time and at the wrong place.
