Fabulous Friday Flavour: Mini Cheesy Lasagna in Crispy Wonton Cups
Imagine this: cheesy bites of succulent , smoky-flavoured meat cooked in basil based pasta sauce and top that up with more cheese. And, and , and…all of them in a crispy wonton cup!
OK. Forget about imagining it. Let me show you the final creation that had actually came out from our Monthly Mystery Munchies theme on Appetizers with Dough from last week:
Sounded quite weird with the wonton cup, isn’t it? But really, it isn’t THAT weird once you taste it because all the ingredients seem to fit perfectly. These wonton cups can be really addictive and make for very good and simple appetizers. It’s a great East-meets-West “foodology”. I’m afraid once you taste it, one is just not enough!
- 2 packs of store-bought wonton skins
- 500g minced beef
- 3-4 chicken sausages, cubed
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 bottle of store-bought basil-based pasta sauce
- 1 tspn cumin
- 1 tbsp mustard seed powder
- 2 pint of ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Jack Montery Cheese
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Press garlic into the hot olive oil
- Add in minced beef and cook it till it gets brown. Add in the chicken sausage and mix well
- Add in the pasta sauce, cumin, mustard seed powder and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes. Set aside.
- On a separate bowl, mix the shredded parmesan cheese into the ricotta. Add salt and pepper to taste. Set aside
- Place the wonton cups into a muffin tray. Use 1 piece. Bake the empty cups for about 5 minutes in the oven and take it out
- Place another layer of wonton skins on the baked wonton cups. Then spoon the ricotta cheese, followed by the meat and top it up with cheese. Repeat till all the wonton cups are filled up
- Bake on 180 degrees for 10 minutes. You can choose to add a thinly sliced jalapeno on each cup. It does add kick to the taste.
Serve ’em piping hot! Don’t restrain yourself. It’s only good stuff.
This has been inspired by a recipe I found here. And don’t forget to check out Gen of Eat, Play, Clove recipe from last week too!
